Books & Brecon Tour

Great tour for book lovers.

One of our main goals while in Wales was to visit Hay-on Wye, and this was the only tour we could find that catered to that location from Cardiff. It was fantastic. Dave, our tour guide, was great. We had 3 hours to explore the bookstores and our trip ended with a very relaxing hike along a canal. Lots of sights and scenery along the way with Dave providing interesting commentary. Highly recommend!

Great tour with a knowledgeable tour guide.

So far, this tour has been the highlight of our trip. We got to see so much of Wales in one day. Dave is so knowledgeable about the culture and history of Wales. We were able to see various locations and learn so much about Wales on the full day tour. I highly recommend booking a tour.

Take the private tour!!!

SO MUCH VALUE! GARETH was such a great tour guide. If you’ve traveled to Cardiff, take the
private tour! You see so much of the castle that’s not on the general admission tour. It’s
unbelievably beautiful in the clock tower that’s only on the private tour.

Exceptional

David James hosted us in Wales for 11 days by driving us on a sightseeing adventure. His historical knowledge of the 19 castles we saw was exceptional. We also stopped at an Iron Age exhibit & a copper mine. Dave took us to the cemeteries to find where great grandparents were buried & even drove by some of their former residences! His attention to detail was exceptional & he fulfilled our request to become familiar with Welsh history.

Cardiff castles

Dave was a super guide. I absolutely enjoyed every minute of this tour. The inside of
Caerphilly was closed but the outside is spectacular by itself. Castle Coch is a great
experience and Llandaff Cathedral is definitely worth visiting.

Fantastic, will use again

Our tour with Dave was absolutely fantastic! We visited Cardiff in November 2024, and we didn’t have much time to spend there, or really any idea what we should see with our limited stay. Dave went absolutely above and beyond, creating several tour options for us based on our interests, and was so flexible, allowing us to make changes if we wanted to prioritize something different instead. He was so friendly and knowledgeable, and we feel we got to see some true hidden gems on our day trip! I would recommend his tours to anyone traveling in the area, and we will definitely use his services again when we come back sometime in the spring!

We enjoyed the tour and the chance to get out of the city. Wish that Caerphilly Castle had been open to the public, considering how far we traveled, as that was one of the reasons we booked the tour. Superb excursion and friendly driver

A day trip to the Wye Valley and Monmouthshire with four fascinating visits: Chepstow Castle (a well-preserved old medieval castle with stunning views over the Wye), the impressive Tintern Abbey, the Tudor manor house at Raglan, and the Roman ruins of Caerleon. All in one day, a wonderful adventure spanning centuries of Welsh history, set amidst beautiful countryside. And the delightful surprise of finding a Michelin-starred restaurant, both accessible and affordable, along the way, which I highly recommend (The Whitebrook, not far from the Abbey).

A great day in Wales with our driver Dave James

Dave coordinated with us extensively for weeks before our arrival to customize our itinerary. He picked us up at the train station in Newport and gave us a tour of the Wye Valley with a carefully selected list of places to see. At each stop, he’d wait for us to take our time exploring each location before moving on to the next stop. It was very nice to go at our own pace.
