This full day tour will take you along the Wales / England Border through the Wye Valley AONB, and into the heart of Wales’ 2nd largest National Park, to see the mountains in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons)

Leaving Cardiff, you will head to The Wye Valley National Landscape. As you are driven through the Wye Valley, you will be able to marvel at the beautiful scenery and realise why it is a protected area.

The first stop of your tour will be Tintern Abbey. The romantic ruins of a masterpiece of Gothic Architecture that has been a popular tourist destination for 250 years, and inspired painters like Turner, and authors such as Wordsworth.

You will then travel through the woods, emerging into the Monmouthshire countryside as you make your way to Raglan Castle, one of the best castles in South Wales. Built in the 15th Century with 360 degree views across the countryside.

From Raglan Castle, you will head deeper into Wales and into Bannau Brycheiniog. As you are Driven through picturesque towns such as Abergavenny & Crickhowell and villages like Bwlch, you will once more see stunning countryside out of the windows, as the green rolling hills of The Wye Valley are replaced by Welsh Mountains including Pen-y-Fan, the tallest mountain in South Wales, and the tallest mountain in the UK south of Snowdonia. You may even see Birds of Prey such as Red Kites, Kestrels & Buzzards. Along the way, you may choose to stop off in Abergavenny or Crickhowell or a country pub for lunch on the way to Brecon.

In the town of Brecon, which lends its name to the Brecon Beacons, you will then have the chance to stretch your legs and either enjoy a coffee overlooking the canal, take a stroll along the canal path, or look around the town

Brecon Canal Basin

Your driver will park up near the Brecon Canal Basin and you will have some time to independantly explore the canal basin and ancient market town, full of old buildings, and independant shops, and places to eat, should you wish to get some lunch whilst in Brecon.

From Brecon, you will discover more of Bannau Brycheiniog. The landscape will become even more dramatic and powerful than it was on the way to Brecon. Your driver will take you to some of the best viewpoints in this part of the National Park, where you will have the chance to take in the views and take photos, as you make your way back to Cardiff.

Additional Information
  • This tour is a chauffeur driven sightseeing tour for up to 6 people.
  • During your tour, your driver will also stop on request so long as it is safe and legal to do so
  • The weather in Bannau Brycheiniog is changeable, and can differ significantly from Cardiff.
  • You will be free to spend as much or as little time a Tintern Abbey, Raglan Castle & Brecon, but we recommend around an hour at each of the three stops
  • No specific lunch stop is included in this tour. However, and hour for lunch is included in the day. This can be taken in Brecon, or your driver can stop in Abergavenny, Crickhowell or anywhere you wish on the drive from Raglan Castle to Brecon
  • If you wish, you are welcome to bring food to eat in the car on this tour.
  • This tour can start / finish anywhere in South Wales, but additional fee’s may be payable if starting / finishing outside Cardiff
  • Entry to Tintern Abbey & Raglan Castle is NOT included in the Tour Fee
